Origin:
Vaudeville originated from variety entertainment because it became so popular throughout different classes. variety acts back then were intended for all male audiences because they were obscenely comical and vulgar. But in 1881 a man called Tony Pastor, who was a singer, created a variety show for families instead of all male audiences, once other mangers had seen / heard how much money this brought in they all followed in his footsteps. Vaudeville suddenly became a huge thing in american culture.
